On February 17 , 2009, a Well Permit Application
Form and fee was received for the installation of three injection wells.
The EHD can issue a permit at this time but only for one or two soil borings to collect soil samples for the
BST and not for the installation of any injection wells. Please submit a map showing the location of the
soil boring(s) .
The results of the BST are to be submitted to the EHD as soon as the test is completed . The EHD will
review the results of the BST and advise Shell if the test was adequate and if the three remediation test
wells can be installed . If you plan on using the same C-57 drilling contractor to install the test wells that
you used for the soil borings, please advise the EHD. It is possible that the same permit may be used for
both phases if conducted within one year of issuing the permit.
After the pilot test has been completed, please submit a report of findings to the EHD for review. If the
results indicate that persulfate injection in the field produces similar effects as the BST, the EHD will
require a modified remediation plan to be submitted . This plan is to show the number and location of the
additional remediation/injection wells to be installed as well as the design and layout of the trenching and
remediation unit construction details. The EHD will comment of the plan after the completion of the
review.
If you have
/AAAany questions, please contact Michael Infurna at (209) 468-3454.
Michael J .
