The layout
of the former service station consisted of a station building, two underground storage tanks
(USTs), a waste oil UST, and four dispenser islands.
The site is currently an active environmental case with the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department (SJCEHD). Recent testing of the soil indicates gasoline is present in the soil
beneath the site. In an effort to clean up the soil and groundwater beneath the site, soil will be
excavated from the southern portion of the site. While digging occurs at this site there may be
dust and gasoline odor associated with these activities. The digging contractor will make all
reasonable efforts to minimize dust and odor problems associated with this work.
Soil excavated during this project will be hauled to an approved disposal facility (landfill) for
disposal. Clean soil will be used to fill in the excavation.
The existing USTs are tentatively scheduled to be removed during September 2004. The
excavation work described above will be performed immediately after tank removal activities are
completed.
Shell has the property up for sale.
FILE COPY
