AMBR [ A
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The petroleum hydrocarbon and MTBE concentrations in groundwater samples collected from
the shallow wells this quarter are within the historical norm for this site RW-lA was
inaccessible during the first quarterly monitoring event Data from the groundwater extraction
system's influent sample indicates that RW-1A continues to contain the highest levels of
hydrocarbons and MTBE, however it appears that GWE efforts have produced a declining
concentration trend of MTBE and benzene in this well
It appears that the groundwater samples for wells MW-8 and MW-15 were switched this quarter
Although there is no confirmation that this happened, the historical analytical data for both wells
indicated this may have occurred As both wells contain similar gasoline constituents, the
sample mix up does not have a significant effect on the groundwater monitoring program for this
site
MTBE has been detected in deep well MW-14 at low levels during the last three monthly
sampling events The concentration of MTBE has ranged from 14 to 4 1 parts per billion The
. closest domestic well (2452) to MW-14 is also being sampled monthly and has not contained
MTBE We believe the MTBE detections in MW-14 are not derived from the release at the
subject site due to the great distance (--700 feet) from the subject site and also historical
groundwater flow direction data indicates well MW-14 is located crossgradient from the subject
site In addition, there are two wells (MW-11 and MW-13)between the subject site and MW-14
that do not contain MTBE
0783 3
