r <br /> • FUGRO WEST, INC. <br /> March 8, 1995 1050 Melody Lane,Sete 160 <br /> Roseville California 95678 <br /> Project No 94-47-8620 Tel (916)782-2110 <br /> FAX (916)786-7830 <br /> Ms Mary Meays <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> Post Office Box 2009 <br /> 445 N San Joaquin Street <br /> Stockton, California 95201-2009 <br /> Subject Addendum to February 8, 1995 Soil Management Plan <br /> Shell Service Station (WIC No 204-7524-3505) <br /> 2575 Country Club Boulevard, Stockton, California <br /> SJCPHS/EHD Site Code 1223 <br /> Dear Ms Meays <br /> Fugro West, Inc (Fugro), on behalf of Shell Oil Company, is providing this Addendum <br /> in response to a telephone conversation with San Joaquin County Public Health Services, <br /> • Environmental Health Division (SJCPHS/EHD) on February 9, 1995 All work will be performed <br /> according to the Fugro Standard Operating Procedures included as Attachment 1, except where <br /> otherwise indicated <br /> OVER-EXCAVATION AND SAMPLING <br /> Figure I shows the estimated extent of over-excavation after the underground storage <br /> tanks (UST) are removed from the subject site The estimated extent of the over-excavation is <br /> based on laboratory analyses of soil samples collected during investigations performed during <br /> December 1994 and January 1995 The actual extent of the excavation will be determined by <br /> field observations The excavation is estimated to remain open approximately two weeks This <br /> may change where actual field conditions warrant An estimated 700 to 1,000 cubic yards of soil <br /> will be removed Overexcavation will continue until no petroleum hydrocarbons are noted during <br /> field screening by visual observation and with a photoionization detector (PID), or the boundaries <br /> described in the February 8, 1995 "Soil Management Plan," are encountered Confirmation <br /> sidewall and excavation floor samples will then be collected The sidewall samples will be <br /> collected approximately every 20 feet at the base of the excavation above groundwater, if <br /> encountered Additionally, product and vent-line trenches will be overexcavated where necessary <br /> and soil samples collected from the trench bottoms approximately every 20 lineal feet All <br /> samples will be collected under the direction of a County representative and in accordance with <br /> the LUFT Manual and Tri-Regional Guidelines Soil samples will be analyzed for total <br /> . petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH), as gasoline, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes <br /> (BTEX), and total lead <br /> 94478620 BAD A member of the Fugro group of companies with offices throughout the world <br />
