 CABRA
Extracted groundwater is pumped from the storage tank, using a transfer
pump, through a silt filter and then through three 1,200-pound
aqueous-phase carbon vessels(in series)prior to discharge to the sanitary
sewer blow meters, pressure gauges, sample ports, and a lower
explosion limit (LEL) monitor were installed to control and monitor
system operation A telephone autodialer was installed to remotely notify
Cambria of system shutdown events
GWE SYSTEM START-UP
Start-up was conducted in accordance with the City of Stockton wastewater discharge permit
conditions On May 31, 2000, the GWE system was operated for approximately three hours for the
purpose of collecting start-up samples Approximately 200 gallons of groundwater was processed
Samples were collected before the first carbon vessel (influent), before and after the second carbon
vessel (midfluentl and midfluent2), and after the third carbon vessel (effluent) All samples were
analyzed total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and
. xylenes (BTEX), and MTBE by EPA method 8260 Effluent samples were also analyzed for trace
metals and pH as specified by the wastewater discharge permit All analytes were reported below the
discharge limitations The analytical report(Attachment B)was submitted to the City of Stockton on
June 18, 2001 Start-up of the GWE system occurred on June 20, 2001
PLANNED ACTIVITIES
O&H Visits Periodic site visits will be conducted to perform routine system
maintenance, record meter readings, and measure well parameters
Monthly GWE system samples will be collected before the first carbon
vessel (influent), before and after the second carbon vessel (midfluentl
and midfluent2),and after the third carbon vessel(effluent) Wastewater
discharge permit compliance samples will be collected and analyzed as
specified by the permit The system data will be reviewed to evaluate
system effectiveness and, if needed, system optimization modifications
will be recommended
Reporting System data will be provided with the quarterly monitoring reports Self-
monitonng reports will be provided to the City of Stockton as specified
by the wastewater discharge permit
3
