CAM BR [ A
and benzene were not detected in any of the other shallow monitoring wells Methanol
was not detected in any of the wells analyzed MTBE was reported by EPA Method 8020
in wells MW-2 through MW-8 and RW-IA at concentrations ranging from 2 97 to
124,000 ppb The MTBE result for RW-IA was generated out of hold time MTBE was
detected by EPA Method 8260A in groundwater samples collected from wells MW-5,
MW-8, and RW-IA at concentrations ranging from 3,380 to 139,000 ppb TAME was
detected in wells MW-5, MW-8, and RW-IA at concentrations ranging from 47 1 to
3,110 ppb TBA was detected to wells MW-5 and MW-8 at concentrations of 28,200 and
2,620 ppb, respectively The benzene and MTBE data are shown on the chemical
concentration map (Figure 2), historical TPHg, BTEX, and MTBE date are summarized
in the table in Blaine's monitoring report (Appendix A) Additional analytical data are
summarized in Table 1
® Separate phase petroleum hydrocarbons were not present in well RW-IA this quarter
• From March through June 1999, weekly groundwater extraction (GWE) was performed
on well RW-IA Beginning in July 1999, GWE occurred bi-weekly During each GWE
event, approximately 5,000 gallons of water is purged by a vacuum truck and transported
to the Martinez Refining Company for recycling As of May 22, 2000, approximately
168,255 gallons of water have been removed from RW-IA As shown on Table 2, based
on the concentration data, groundwater extraction has effectively removed
approximately 223 pounds of TPHg, 14 5 pounds of benzene, and 247 pounds of MTBE
• Groundwater samples collected from deep monitoring wells MW-12 through MW-14 did
not contain detectable concentrations of TPHg or MTBE Benzene was detected in well
MW-12 at a concentration of 1 28 ppb Well MW-13 results reported were generated
out of hold time
• TPHg, benzene, MTBE, and fuel oxygenates were not detected In the groundwater
samples collected from the CalTrans irrigation well nor in any of the domestic wells The
laboratory analytical results are summarized in the table in Blaine's monitoring report
(Appendix A) and also on Table 1
Quarterly Sampling
Groundwater samples from all wells were analyzed for total purgeable hydrocarbons as
gasoline (TPHg) by EPA Method 8015 (Modified), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes
0783 2
