The proposed scope
of work is to further assess the vertical and lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil and
ground water on-site,and to address San Joaquin County Public Health Service's (SJPHD) letter dated
February 16, 1999 (Enclosure A). The location of the site is shown in Figure 1 and site features are
illustrated in Figure 2. Field methods and procedures to be used by Delta to complete the proposed
work are summarized in Enclosure B.
This work plan presents the results of soil sampling performed at the site since August 1991. As
requested in the SJPHD letter, soil borings are proposed in areas where the vertical extent of petroleum
hydrocarbons has not been defined beneath the water table. According to San Joaquin County Flood
Control maps for fall 1978, the depth to ground water may have been more that 20 feet below surface
grade (bsg) in the vicinity of the site ' lett;? 'G►f30. Also, this
work plan proposes the installation of monitoring weds on-site that wi1'Se screened across the water
table. High water table conditions during the past two years have submerged the existing monitoring
well screens.
project Background
The subject site is an operating retail gasoline station located on a 1/2 acre parcel at the northwest
comer of Ryde Avenue and Country Club Boulevard in Stockton, California. Elevation of the
ground surface as the site is approximately 1 to 2 feet above mean sea level. The site slopes down
towards the northeast and southwest comers from a slight topographic high across the center.
In August 1991, Delta installed three ground water monitoring wells on-site MW-1 through MW-3
each to an approximate depth of 27 feet below surface grade (bsg). A quarterly ground water
monitoring program at the site was initiated at that time. Chemical analyses on soil samples
Providing a Competitive Edge
