Sao
Mr.Michael Infurna,SJCEHD April 7,2006
Well Installation Work Plan
Palisades Station No. 835, Stockton,CA
Page 5
Potential Sensitive Receptors
A Caltrans irrigation well is situated immediately south of Country Club Boulevard,
between the northbound Interstate 5 off-ramp and Plymouth Road (see Figure 4). The
environmental consultant representing the former Shell service station (Cambria) is
currently sampling this well.
Cambria personnel also identified five domestic water supply wells, located at 2452, 2454,
2456, 2468, and 2472 Country Club Boulevard. The approximate locations of these
domestic wells are included on Figure 4. At the time of the most recent sampling event,
only the domestic well located at 2452 Country Club Boulevard was sampled.
ETIC completed a door-to-door reconnaissance of the area surrounding the site in May
2001, to identify potential off-site sensitive receptors to groundwater impact beneath the
site. A domestic well was identified at 2740 Bristol Avenue, approximately 900 feet
northwest of the site.
SJCEHD personnel identified an irrigation well at the Safeway facility, located at 2720
Country Club Boulevard. SJCEHD personnel have previously recommended, in a letter
dated December 1, 2000, that this irrigation well be properly abandoned. The status and
pumping frequency of this well is currently unknown to Stratus personnel.
SCOPE OF WORK
The objectives of the proposed work are to:
• Further characterize the lateral and vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon
impact to soil and groundwater.
• Additionally characterize the geology beneath the site.
• Evaluate groundwater flow direction below first encountered groundwater.
To accomplish these objectives, Stratus is proposing the following activities:
• Drill and install five (5) additional shallow screened monitoring wells (MW-11,
MW-15 through MW-17, and MW-20) to depths ranging from approximately 20
to 25 feet bgs using hollow stem augers.
• Drill and install six (6) conductor cased groundwater monitoring wells (MW-12
through MW-14, MW-18, MW 19, and MW-21) using hollow stem augers. Wells
MW-12, MW-13, MW-18, MW-19, and MW-21 will be completed to depths
ranging from approximately 45 to 48 feet bgs. Well MW-14 will be completed to
approximately 30 feet bgs.
KAUSA Gasoline\0835\Work Plans\palisades835 workplan2006.doc STRATUS
