5 0 REMEDIAL ACTIONS <br /> 5.1 Soil Overexcavation and Site Renovation <br /> The following discussion regarding remedial actions completed at the site is based on <br /> information obtained during a review of available SJCEHD files <br /> Exxon replaced the site USTs and product delivery lines in December 1995 and January 1996 <br /> The new USTs were placed in a different cavity than the former UST complex (see Figure 2) A <br /> larger than necessary UST cavity was excavated in order to remove extra petroleum hydrocarbon <br /> impacted soil from the subsurface An estimated 700 cubic yards of soil was excavated and <br /> removed from the site in the area where the current USTs are situated An additional 62 cubic <br /> yards of soil (estimate) was excavated and removed in order to place the current product delivery <br /> lines and fuel dispensers Delta submitted a report titled Soil Excavation and Sampling Results <br /> in May 1996 to document the excavation and sampling activities <br /> Lateral conveyance piping was reportedly installed at the site in January 1996, in the event that <br /> soil vapor extraction (SVE) was to be implemented in the future The conveyance piping was <br /> connected to wells VEW-1 and VEW-3 It is our understanding that SVE was never <br /> implemented <br /> K IUSA GasohneM35tiReportslusa835 scm-assessment report doc Page 12 5MATU5 <br />
