PHS/EHD has
the following comments:
1. Analytical results of the soil sample collected from boring probe#1 (P-1) at 25
feet below surface grade (bsg) were 6.9 parts per million (ppm) Total Petroleum
PP
Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g) and 9.7 m TPH as diesel (TPH-d). The
boring log indicated P-1 was advanced to 40 feet bsg, but no soil sample was
recovered for analyses below 25 feet bsg. xhe boring
o i Slogs bsg to,37 feet P-3
recorded fine to medium sand from appro y
g.
The vertical extent of the contamination has not been defined in the area of the
former gasoline and diesel UST cluster.
2. Groundwater was encountered at 7 feet bsg. Analytical results of the grab
water sample taken from P-1 at 15 feet to 20 feet bsg were 10,000 parts per
billion (ppb) of TPH-g, 660 ppb of TPHd, 280 ppb of Ethyl-benzene, and 610
ppb of Xylenes. PHS/EHD concurs with AGE's recommendation that a
ground water investigation is warranted.
3. The State of California Department of Health Services (however,DHSlished
an Action Level for MTBE in drinking water at 3 pp
has
since upgraded the Action Level for MTBE in drinking waterdrinking
w ter
in
March 1999. Furthermore, DHS has established a secondary g
maximum contaminant level (MCL) of 5 ppb for MTBE. Although the
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
