Niblack :
Please find enclosed our discharge monitoring reports for the month
of June 1988 . we ended discharging of water to the San Joaquin
River for the summer irrigation season on March 15th. we will
continue to monitor most of the parameters throughout the summer ,
however , as an aid to controlling our processes .
During the month of June , the measured irrigation discharge
hexavalent chromium level was always <0 . 05 mg/1 . (No reservoir
testing was performed on June 5th. ) However , in the north tank
basement sump we detected 0 . 05 mg/l of hexavalent chromium on June
4th, 0 . 06 mg/l on June 7th, and 0 . 10 mg/l on June 30th. During
June , the south tank basement sump hexavalent chromium level was
found to be 0 . 05 mg/l on the 21st , 0 . 06 mg/l on the 22nd. On each
occasion the sump water was diverted to our G & P recycle tank until
the value returned to <0 . 05 mg/1 . As before , we believe these
values were caused by workers wading in the infiltration water and
stirring up previously contaminated sediment . Good progress is
being made toward contracting removal of this material and
construction of the associated spill control equipment. our
continuous hexavalent Chromium analyzer is now operating but is
remaining in an informational mode only until it' s reliability is
proven.
The Eclipse process was not run during the month of June , therefore ,
no fluoride monitoring was necessary.
We would like to claim confidentiality for the data given in this
report which refers to production from this facility.
