Mr. Mike So O/oodward•C9yde Consultants
LOF Glass
April 18, 1986
Page 2
Four inch diameter by 20 ft deep PVC well casings will be installed in
each boring with the screened interval extending from a depth of 5 to
20 ft. The four inch diameter casing will allow for the installation of
a recovery system in the event oil is encountered while the 20 ft. depth
can provide sufficient flexibility for water table draw down should it be
required. The wells will be sealed at the surface with bentonite and
concrete and completed with a Christy Box and, if necessary, locking well
caps.
Upon completion, the wells will be developed by pumping and/or surging or
swabbing. Fluid level measurements will be taken in all wells twice a
week for two weeks following installation. In an effort to minimize
costs, we propose that LOF measure the wells once a week while
Woodward—Clyde will conduct the other weekly measurements. Relative well
casing elevations will also be taken to facilitate verification of the
direction of the local groundwater gradient as calculated in the previous
investigation.
Once the above tasks have been completed we will submit a report to LOF
which will include a description of all activities conducted during the
investigation as well as a discussion of the results and recommendations
for additional investigative work and/or remedial activities, if any, to
be taken at the site. The report will also include copies of the boring
logs , well monitoring data, sample chain—of custody forms and the results
of the lab analyses. The report will be submitted one week after the
monitoring is completed provided the lab results are available.
The estimated cost for conducting this investigation, based on the scope
outlined above and assuming all six monitoring wells will be installed is
$13,900. The total cost and level of effort is broken down below by task
and personnel . The project manager will be Martin Cramer who will
perform the majority of the work on this project. Project review and
quality assurance will be conducted by Robert Castle with Norman Ozaki
providing the health and safety guidelines and David Parsons the
hydrogeology expertise. All of the above personnel were involved in the
previous investigation conducted at the site.
Woodward—Clyde Consultants is very interested in working with you on this
project. If you have any questions or require additional information,
please feel free to contact Martin Cramer at (415) 945-3000. Thank you
for the opportunity to submit this proposal .
Yours truly,
Ja es D. Sartor
onager,
Environmental and Engineering
JOS/wjf
0167p*
