Gary Reents:
Enclosed is our wastewater discharge monitoring report for the
month of September , 1985. Included is other environmentaly
related information that may be of interest to some on the
expanded distribution list .
The August Cobalt and Chromium analyses were received late and
both were less than 0 . 05 mg/l . With the exception of coliform
the other, analyses were well within our permit limitations.
Our heavy chlorination after the September 2nd high value for
coliform helped somewhat but tontines intermitt.antly high . The
first value for October was 98 MPN1100ml . We have since
discovered missing chlorination basin dividers in our sanitary
treatment plantwhich would have severely decreased the chlorine
contact time. This could well have been the problem all aIonq
rather than the sludge residing at the bottom of our, reservoir .
New dividers were instal fed and we have resumed sludge wasting
on a regular basis. This material is being hauled to a municipal
sanitary facility by Roto-Rooter . We are increasing our
analytical effort on our sanitary plant as well increasing our
reservoir coliform analyses to once per week until we feel this
problem is .under. control
Thru September 30 1
we have extracted 5374 gallons of oil from our
leak of autoclave oil on Jan 24th . The flow of oil into the
extraction pit is slowing but we feel some months of pumping
still remain before the site is adequately renewed. The analyses
requested on .- the suspect monitoring wells were completed and
are enclosed.' No volatile halogenated comppunds were detected.
With regard to the contaminated dirt removed from the spill site
we asked our, consultant to study the feasiblity of land spreading
it as you have suggested might be possible. Their report is
enclosed. We request we be allowed to spread this material as
they have suggested in an area immediately east of our batch
silos. We plan also to remove more dirt from the spill site
after the clean-up is completed and add it to this spreading
site.
500 East Louise Lathrop,California 95330 Telephone 209 858-5151 TWX 510-762-6630
