Pilkington North America,Inc.
Site Background
Nine diesel recovery and skimmer O/M events were conducted between April 1 and September 30,2013.
Free product was observed in recovery wells RW-2, RW-3, RW-4, and RW-6, and approximately 1.76
' gallons of product were recovered. Product recovery from the recovery wells has produced a cumulative
total of approximately 240.45 gallons of recovered diesel.
' Condor sampled the three Site monitoring wells and two facility sumps during the third quarter
groundwater monitoring event conducted on February 24 and 25, 2014. The average groundwater
elevation in the three Site monitoring wells was 2.31 feet, a decrease of 0.98 feet since previously
measured on August 23, 2013. The calculated groundwater gradient was approximately 0.002 ft/ft to the
east-northeast. Laboratory analytical results indicated that TPH-K and TPH-D were not detected at or
above the laboratory reported detection limits in the three monitoring wells or two facility sumps.
' TPH-MO was detected in monitoring well MW-2 and the SW-sump.
Thirteen diesel recovery and skimmer O/M events were conducted between October 1, 2013 and March
' 31, 2014. Free product was observed in recovery wells RW-2, RW-3, and RW4, and approximately 1.19
gallons of product were recovered. Product recovery from the Site's recovery wells has produced a
cumulative total of approximately 241.64 gallons of recovered diesel.
Condor sampled the three Site monitoring wells and the SE-sump during the third quarter groundwater
monitoring event conducted on August 12 and 13, 2014. The SW-sump contained insufficient water
column for collection of a representative sample. The average groundwater elevation in the three Site
' monitoring wells was 1.49 feet, a decrease of 0.82 feet since previously measured on February 24, 2014.
The calculated groundwater gradient was approximately 0.0036 ft/ft to the east-northeast. Laboratory
analytical results indicated that TPH-MO, TPH-K, and TPH-D were not detected at or above the
' laboratory reported detection limits in the samples collected from the three monitoring wells or the
SE-sump.
' Eleven diesel recovery and skimmer O/M events were conducted between April 1 and September 30,
2014. Free product was observed in recovery wells RW-2, RW-3, RW-4, and RW-6, and approximately
2.91 gallons of product were recovered. Product recovery from the Site's recovery wells has produced a
' cumulative total of approximately 244.55 gallons of recovered diesel.
Condor sampled the three Site monitoring wells and the SE- and SW-sump during the first quarter
' groundwater monitoring event conducted on February 9, 2015. The average groundwater elevation in the
three Site monitoring wells was 1.83 feet, an increase of 0.34 feet since previously measured on August
12, 2014. The calculated groundwater gradient was approximately 0.0026 ft/ft to the east-northeast.
Laboratory analytical results indicated that TPH-MO, TPH-K, and TPH-D were not detected at or above
' the laboratory reported detection limits in the samples collected from the three monitoring wells or the
SE-sump.Motor oil was detected at a concentration of 0.994 mg/l in the SW-sump.
' Eight diesel recovery and skimmer O/M events were conducted at the Site between October 1, 2014, and
March 31, 2015. Free product was observed in recovery wells RW-1, RW-2, RW-3, and RW-4, and
approximately 5.63 gallons of product were recovered. Product recovery from the Site's recovery wells
' has produced a cumulative total of approximately 250.18 gallons of recovered diesel
X:\Projmt\7000_pd\7064 Jones Dev Co(previously PNA)\70648 Diesel Recovery\Reports\3Q15\Sitc Background.doc
t
