GRAB GROUNDWATER SAMPLE COLLECTION
Grab groundwater samples were collected from borings ABI, AB2, AB3, AB6, AB7,
ABB, AB10, AB12, and AB16 at depths between 15 and 20 feet bsg utilizing a four-foot
long, 0.5-inch diameter PVC screen (0.010 Slot size) and schedule 40 PVC blank
casing. Groundwater samples were extracted from each boring into non preserved 40-
ml glass vials, one-liter amber glass containers and 250-ml plastic containers. Each
sample was collected by using inertial action and lowering single-use disposable '%-inch
Teflon tubing with a sampling check-valve through the hollow center of the PVC casing.
' 2.3. LABORATORY ANALYSIS
' Following soil and groundwater sample collection, each preserved sample sleeve or
groundwater sampling container was labeled with the boring location, depth, time, date,
' and sampler's initials. Appropriately sealed and labeled samples were placed in a
chilled container and transported under chain of custody to Cal Tech Environmental
Laboratories (CTEL), a California Department of Public Health (CDPH)-Certified
' laboratory and were analyzed selectively for the following chemical constituents:
Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline, diesel and oil range
compounds (TPH-g/d/o) in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified; and
• Volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including chlorinated VOCs and "BTEX"
compounds and fuel additives/fuel oxygenates (methyl tertiary butyl ether
' [MTBE], tertiary butyl alcohol [TBA], di-isopropyl ether [DIPE], ethyl tertiary butyl
ether [ETBE], tertiary amyl methyl ether [TAME] and lead scavengers 1,2-
dichloroethane [1,2-DCA] and 1,2-dibromomethane [EDB]) in accordance with
' EPA Method 826013;
• Polychlorinated bi-phenols (PCBs) in accordance with EPA Method 8082.
' . Polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PNA), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons
(PAH) or semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) in accordance with EPA
Method 8270.
• California Assessment Metals (CAM 17) CAM 17 Metals Total Threshold Limit
Concentration (minimally: lead, cadmium, chromium, nickel and zinc) by EPA
Method 6010B/7471.
' 2.4. BORING ABANDONMENT
Following sample collection, each soil boring was permanently sealed to prevent vertical
' migration of potential contaminants. Soil borings were destroyed by backfilling with
Advanced CeoEnvironmental Inc.
