'Wilson Re : 36 North "D" Street , Stockton , CA 95205 Early this year , we entered a business arrangement that required a Phase I environmental report . At that time we contracted with Geological Technics :Inc . of Modesto to prep-a.re this report . To complete this report , -.Geological Technics did a research of old .county records . There are no records or- maps to show that fuel tanks exist on our property . However in talking to some old-time sources ,they were made aware of the possibility . of fuel tanks existing on our property . Continuing their research , they contacted the previous owners of our property who stated that there was a fuel tank on- our property and in addition they had -installed a second waste oil tank that they- never used . Until this was reported. to us by Geological Technics , we had no - idea that these two tanks were on our property . When we purchased this property in 1981 , such disclosure was not required . A. copy of an excerpt of the report re the tanks is enclosed . In assessing liability for penalties and fees., we feel that the past owners should. be held responsible for installing a tank without a permit .
