Pre-Tank Relining Site Assessment Report March 3 1997 <br /> The Southland Corporation 4627 Da Vinci Drive Stockton California <br /> 1 0 INTRODUCTION <br /> This report is submitted by Fluor Daniel GTI, Inc to summarize the results of the soil and groundwater <br /> assessment conducted at Southland Store No 20632 located at 4627 Da Vinci Drive in Stockton California <br /> (Figure 1) The scope of work included sampling soil from six angled geoprobe borings beneath the three <br /> 10,000-gallon gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs) and four vertical borings located 25 to 45 feet <br /> from the USTs In addition, groundwater samples were collected from six of the borings (Figure 2) The <br /> work scope was designed to fulfill the tank relining requirements of the San Joaquin County Public Health <br /> Services (SJCPHS) <br /> The work described in this report was completed at the site on February 21 1997, in accordance with the <br /> scope of work outlined in Fluor Daniel GTI's Pre-Tank-Rehning Soil Assessment Work Plan dated <br /> February 3, 1997 which was accepted by the SJCPHS <br /> 2 0 ASSESSMENT WORK <br /> 2 1 Permitting/Site-specific Health and Safety Plan <br /> Fluor Daniel GTI conducted a technical review of all relevant information provided prior to proceeding with <br /> site assessment work Permits for the soil borings were obtained from the SJCPHS Following a complete <br /> review of site conditions, Fluor Daniel GTI prepared a site-specific Heath and Safety Plan as required by <br /> the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standard "Hazardous Waste Operations and <br /> Emergency Response" guidelines (29 CFR 1910 120) The document was reviewed and signed by all Fluor <br /> Daniel GTI personnel and subcontractors prior to commencement of work at the site <br /> On February 7, 1997, Fluor Daniel GTI and a private utility locator met on site to locate underground utilities <br /> and clear the proposed soil boring locations Underground Service Alert (USA) was called 48 hours prior to <br /> conducting drilling activities at the site <br /> 2 2 Soil Sample Collection <br /> On February 21, 1997, Fluor Daniel GTI supervised the advancement of ten geoprobe points six angled <br /> borings (GP-1 through GP-6) beneath ends of the USTs and four vertical borings (GP-7 through GP-10) <br /> located near property boundaries and 25 to 45 feet from the corners of the UST pit (Figure 2) Soil <br /> samples beneath the USTs were collected at a maximum vertical depth of 15 feet below ground surface <br /> (BGS) and additional samples were collected from GP-3 and GP-5 at 5 feet BGS Ms Mary Meays of the <br /> SJCPHS was on site to observe a portion of the drilling activities <br /> Using a truck-mounted drill and direct push techniques one discrete soil sample was collected from each <br /> of the angled soil borings at a vertical depth of 15 BGS feet beneath the three 10 000-gallon USTs at the <br /> 0470ASMT RPT(Sth-W r� <br /> FLUOR DANIEL GTI <br />
