0 0
CLIENT RESPONSIBILITIES AND ASSUMPTIONS
This workplan is based on the following assumptions:
• Two copies of the final report will be sent to the client.
• Additional copies of the report can be provided for an additional fee of$100
each.
• Adequate workspace and access will be provided by the client.
• Kleinfelder is not responsible for the site safety of others.
• Soil generated during the field assessment will be the responsibility of the
client. Soil will be contained and left on site.
• EHD may require a work plan as part of the permitting process. If a work
plan is required an additional fee of approximately $500 will be incurred.
• The scope of work includes soil sampling as an initial screening
assessment to evaluate the site for potential dry cleaning contaminants in
the subsurface. Therefore evaluation of groundwater contaminants
beneath the site is not part of this scope of work. If contaminants are
found in soil, groundwater sampling may be warranted. Kleinfelder
understands the Client at this time does not desire to incur additional
expense related to evaluating groundwater beneath the site concurrent
with subsurface soil sampling.
• Hand auger and hand tools are being requested for this scope of work.
The Client should be aware that this technique may be limited in its ability
to penetrate hard soil, compacted soil, lime-treated soil, gravel etc., thus
additional means of investigation may be warranted depending upon
actual Site conditions. Difficult probing conditions are likely to incur either
additional costs or necessitate a reduced scope of work within the
proposed time.
• The client should be aware that penetrating the site's surface is inherently
risky. It is impossible to determine with certainty the precise location of all
structures (such as irrigation lines, septic system tanks or leach fields)
which may be buried in the ground. Kleinfelder's fee is not adequate to
compensate for both the performance of the services and the assumption
of risk of damage to such structures. Underground Services Alert (USA) at
1-800-642-2444 provides a partial location service free of charge for major
utility lines. It is important that the client understand that subsurface
structures buried under private property will not be marked by the public
utility companies by USA.
• This workplan is based on the presumption that client will clearly mark
private utilities and will provide any and all available survey maps or other
data to determine the location of underground storage tanks, existing
subsurface structures, underground utilities and service
104164/ST09P106 Page 5 of 5 June 11, 2009
Copyright 2009 Kleinfelder
