California
Dear Mr. Wickes:
Per our telephone conversation on June 3, 1993, abandonment of the remaining wastewater line
in place at the Stockton railyard as discussed in our letter of May 19, 1993 was approved. This
letter provides the field procedures to be followed during the abandonment of the wastewater line
in place.
The wastewater line is presently in two segments, with the western end of the line isolated from
the southern end of the pipe by a break in the line approximately 120 feet west of the southern
end of the line. The break occured during previous excavation activities, and was temporarily
repaired by capping the ends of the line and backfilling. Prior to grouting the line, the area of the
break will be excavated and riser pipes will be placed on both ends of the line. The two
segments of the line will then be grouted seperately.
Grouting of the wastewater line will be performed by Crisp Construction of Visalia, California.
The line will be grouted using a neat cement grout injected into the line using a cement pump.
The cement grout will be injected into the line until the line is completely filled and grout
extends up into the riser pipe at the opposite end of each segment. Following completion of the
grouting operation, the riser pipes on the ends of the line will be removed below grade and the
excavations will be backfilled to grade.
The acbandonaxent of the wastewater lire is scheduled for June 10, 1993. If you have any
questions or comments, please give us a call.
S' er ly,
effrlyvess ..
Project Manager
cc: Mick Hardin
Tim Lassen
2815 Mitchell Drive -Suite 103 -Walnut Creels, CA 94598 (510)935-3294-FAX (510)935-5412
