KennedyiJenks Consultants
Section 1 : Program Overview
This Kennedy/Jenks (K/J) policy is intended to comply with the requirements set forth in the
California Code of Regulations (CCR)Title 8, Subchapter 7, Sections 3395 and 1524.
This Heat Illness Prevention Program applies to all work operations at K/J offices and to all K/J
field operations when Heat Illness is recognized as a potential hazard. This written program is
available to all employees and managers during regular business hours and is located on the
SafetvZone site. Hard copies are available upon request during normal business hours from the
Corporate Health & Safety Manager(CHSM) or Corporate Safety Specialist(CSS).
This written program has been developed for the purpose of providing information and training
on the procedures to prevent heat illness to all supervisory and non-supervisory employees. All
K/J staff will participate in Heat Illness Prevention training and will have the opportunity to ask
questions regarding preventing heat illness.
All staff who may perform a supervisory role will also participate in Heat Illness Prevention
training prior to performing a supervisory role and will be trained in the appropriate procedures
and emergency protocols should an employee display signs of heat illness.
Included in this program is detailed information regarding:
• The environmental and personal risk factors for heat illness;
• The employer's procedures for complying with the requirements of this standard;
• The importance of frequent consumption of small quantities of water, up to 4 cups per
hour, when the work environment is hot and employees are likely to be sweating more
than usual in the performance of their duties;
• The importance of acclimatization;
• The different types of heat illness and the common signs and symptoms of heat illness;
• The importance to employees of immediately reporting to the employer, directly or
through the employee's supervisor, symptoms or signs of heat illness in themselves, or
in co-workers;
• The employer's procedures for responding to symptoms of possible heat illness,
including how emergency medical services will be provided should they become
necessary;
• The employer's procedures for contacting emergency medical services, and if
necessary, for transporting employees to a point where they can be reached by an
emergency medical service provider;
Heat Illness Prevention Program
Kennedy/Jenks Consultants©,November 2013 Page 1
g:ftlrwpWminiob113llWWM.00—bnsAO4VgMmhNespbtl moMag beeblhQ&SM rW,.
