Where it is <br /> not plumbed or otherwise continuously supplied, it will be provided in sufficient quantity <br /> at the beginning of the work shift. Smaller supplies of water may be provided at the <br /> beginning of the shift if the supply is effectively replenished. Water not plumbed or <br /> continuously supplied will be kept cool by means of a portable cooler or similar means. <br /> The use of ice is recommended to keep water cool. <br /> 8. In the event of warm conditions, the Project Manager will monitor K/J employees for <br /> signs of heat illness as identified in Section 4 of this written program or signs that a <br /> preventative recovery period may be needed. Where applicable, the Project Manager <br /> will implement the "Buddy System" in an effort to have employees monitor each other for <br /> signs of heat illness. <br /> 9. Employees suffering from heat illness or believing a preventative recovery period is <br /> needed shall be provided access to an area with shade that is either open to the air or <br /> provided with ventilation or cooling for a period of no less than five minutes. Resting in <br /> an automobile is acceptable, but the air conditioning must be activated. Such access to <br /> shade shall be permitted at all times. <br /> 10. Measures detailing the provisions of water, shade, and recovery periods will be included <br /> in the SSHSP, whether it is a Hazard Appraisal & Recognition Plan (HARP)or Health <br /> and Safety Plan (HASP) as required under CFR 1910.120. <br /> 11. The SSHSP will also provide emergency medical contact information in the event of heat <br /> related illness. Information includes, but is not limited to, the phone numbers for the local <br /> fire department and nearest hospital, map to the nearest hospital, and location of <br /> nearest land line telephone in the event cell phone service cannot be established.
