0 0 <br /> MAINTENANCE OF WAY . - r0 <br /> Lone Workers <br /> At the beginning of each shift, each Ione worker must participate in a job briefing with his or her <br /> supervisor or other designated employee. The job briefing includes the Ione worker's planned itinerary <br /> and the procedures that will be applied to establish on-track safety. <br /> Lone workers who cannot contact their supervisor or designated employee must verify the method of on- <br /> track safety with: <br /> The Train Dispatcher, if communication with the Dispatcher is necessary to establish on-track safety <br /> (track and time, track warrant, track permit, track bulletin Form B) <br /> or <br /> One of the following, if communication with the Train Dispatcher is not necessary to establish on-track <br /> safety(inaccessible track, individual train detection): <br /> • For signal employees, the Signal Call Center Desk <br /> • For telecommunications employees, the Telecommunications Network Operations Center <br /> • For all other employees, the Network Operations Center(NOC) Maintenance Desk <br /> When all communication channels are disabled, conduct the job briefing as soon as possible after <br /> communications are restored. <br /> 11.5 On-Track Safety Procedures in Effect <br /> Management and individual roadway workers share the responsibility for ensuring that proper on-track <br /> safety procedures are followed when workers are fouling track. <br /> Responsibilities of Management <br /> BNSF management must: <br /> • Provide initial and recurring on-track safety training to all roadway workers once each calendar year. <br /> • Guarantee each employee the right to challenge in good faith whether the on-track safety procedures to <br /> be applied at that work location comply with the MWOR. <br /> • Follow the procedure outlined in MWOR 11.6 to promptly and fairly resolve challenges to on-track <br /> safety procedures. <br /> Responsibilities of Individual Roadway Workers <br /> Individual roadway workers must: <br /> • Follow BNSF's on-track safety rules and procedures. <br /> • Avoid fouling a track except when necessary to perform their duties. <br /> • Wear high-visibility orange workwear when on or near the track.At night, the workwear must be retro- <br /> reflective. (See MWSR Rule S-21.1, "Personal Protective Equipment Requirements.") <br /> • Determine that on-track safety is being provided before fouling a track. <br /> • Refuse any directive to violate an on-track safety rule. <br /> • Notify the employee in charge when making a good faith determination that on-track safety procedures <br /> to be applied at the work location do not comply with the MWOR. <br />
