0 0 <br /> 12-2 MAINTENANCE OF WAY . -ERATING RULES—December 2, 2009 <br /> 12.2 Special Operating Guidelines <br /> You may perform maintenance with production rail grinders or rail detectors while a train is passing on an <br /> adjacent main track or controlled siding. You may perform maintenance with other on-track equipment, <br /> referenced in MWOR 12.3, while a train is passing on an adjacent main track or controlled siding if: <br /> • A Track Bulletin Form B is in effect on the adjacent main track(s)or controlled siding. <br /> • The employee in charge has instructed the passing train to pass people and equipment at: <br /> - 40 MPH or less on tangent track <br /> or <br /> - 25 MPH or less where curves or gradients obscure vision <br /> EXCEPTION: When three or more main tracks are in service, and if the on-track equipment <br /> occupies the middle track,stop the on-track equipment if trains are passing on both adjacent <br /> main tracks at the same time. <br /> Workers on the Ground.Workers required to foul an adjacent track while performing a task associated <br /> with the track on which they are working must be protected by a lookout if working limits are not <br /> established on the adjacent track. The provisions for lookout protection must be strictly complied with, <br /> and under no circumstances may equipment or material foul the adjacent track under lookout protection. <br /> Workers on the ground must not work between the tracks while a train is passing. <br /> 12.3 Work May Continue While Train is Passing <br /> If equipment will not foul the adjacent track, the equipment may continue to work if the employee in <br /> charge has instructed the passing train to pass people and equipment at: <br /> • 40 MPH or less on tangent track <br /> or <br /> • 25 MPH or less when curves or gradients obscure vision <br /> Use the following tables to determine which pieces of equipment will continue to work. <br />
