Weber Street, Third Floor
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: Revised Workplan for Destruction of Facility Supply Well at Diamond Walnut,
1050 South Diamond Street, Stockton,California
Dear Mr. Infurna:
ATC Associates Inc. (ATC), on behalf of the Diamond Walnut Growers (DWG), has prepared
this revised workplan for the destruction and abandonment of a facility supply well located at the
above referenced site. The workplan was revised at the request of the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD). Permit documents and associated fees were
previously submitted with the original workplan (Workplan for Destruction of Facility Supply
Well at Diamond Walnut), dated June 14, 2004.
In May 2003, ATC conducted an additional subsurface investigation at the site. The investigation
included producing a video log of the facility supply well. The construction details of the facility
well, as observed on the video log, indicate that it appears to be screened in more than one water-
bearing zone and is a potential conduit for migration of groundwater between aquifers. DWG
indicated that there are no future plans to utilize the well, therefore, ATC recommended that the
facility well be properly destroyed. The California Regional Water Quality Control Board
(CRWQCB) is in concurrence with the recommendation to destroy the well.
The scope of work in brief includes obtaining permits, grouting the facility supply well, and
preparing a summary report. The scope of work is described in detail in the following paragraphs.
SITE LOCATION
The DWG plant is located northeast of the intersection of Charter Way and South Diamond
Street in Stockton, California (Figure 1). The site boundaries along with pertinent features are
shown on Figure 2.
s:\environmenta1V62583\rev-wellabandonmentwp.doc 1
ENVIRONMENTAL, GEOTECHNICAL AND MATERIALS PROFESSIONALS
