s <br /> 1 <br /> Technical Summary & Report of 4TH Qtr Monitoring April 2, 1992 <br /> 401 <br /> 2 <br /> Diamond Walnut Growers, 1050 South Diamond Street, Stockton, CA W0564 ' <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> ' At the request of Diamond Walnut Growers (DWG), this report has been prepared by RESNA <br /> Industries (RESNA) as part of a subsurface investigation to obtain closure for five underground <br /> storage vaults at the subject site located at 1050 South Diamond Street in Stockton, California <br /> (Figure 1) The purpose of the work performed by RESNA and the previous consultant has been <br /> ' to document subsurface conditions beneath the vaults and to determine the appropriate closure <br /> alternative. <br /> ' This summary YrePort has been prepared in response to a San Joaquin County Public Health <br /> ' Services (SJCPHS) correspondence dated November 1, 1991, requesting a technical report <br /> containing laboratory results of additional groundwater sampling, gradient verification, and the <br /> ' status of the City of Stockton's four municipal wells located on the site <br />�} 2.0 SITE BACKGROUND AND DESCRIPTION <br /> 2„.1 General <br /> ' The DWG plant is located northeast of the intersection of Charter Way and South Diamond <br /> Street in Stockton, California (Figure 1). According to DWG, the facility has been operating <br /> as a walnut processing plant since the 1950s. Five underground concrete vaults are located north <br /> and east of the main processing building and formerly contained refrigerants used in the plant <br /> ' cooling systems (Figure 2). Vaults 1, 5, and 6 are concrete, were installed between 1974 and <br /> 1976, and historically contained propylene glycol If it is possible, however, that ethylene <br /> ' glycol was also stored in each of these vaults at one time, but there are no confirming records <br /> Vaults 1 and 5 have 1,200 gallon capacities and Vault 6 has a 500 gallon capacity. These vaults <br /> ' are located along the eastern side of the property adjacent to large walnut storage bins (Figure <br /> 2) Vaults 7 and 8 which were constructed with poured concrete and lined with fiberglass and <br /> ' asphalt, contained calcium chloride and sodium dichromate chill water solution Vaults 7 and <br /> 8 have 3,000 and 5,000 gallon capacities, respectively, and are located against the north wall <br /> R0117SQ SAY 1 <br />
