V <br /> f! n <br /> WEISS ASSOCL4TES <br /> 1 INTRODUCTION <br /> This report presents the results of the soil boring and sampling performed in December <br /> 1988 by Weiss Associates (WA) at the Diamond Walnut Growers(DWG) walnut processing plant <br /> at 1050 South Diamond Street in Stockton, California (Figure 1) The objective of the <br /> investigation was to determine the integrity of five underground chemical storage tanks at the <br /> site by collecting soil samples from borings drilled beneath the tanks and analyzing the <br /> samples for chemicals stored in the tanks <br /> 1 1 SCOPE OF WORK <br /> Our scope of work included <br /> 1) Drill ten soil borings beneath the five chemical storage tanks and collect soil <br /> samples for lithologtc description and for possible chemical analysis <br /> 2) Survey the samples from beneath Tanks 1, 5 and 6 in the field with an Organic <br /> Vapor Analyzer (OVA) <br /> 3) Drill two soil borings in uncontaminated native soil and collect soil samples to <br /> determine background soil conditions <br /> 4) Backfill the borings with cement grout <br /> 5) Select samples from beneath Tanks 1, 5 and 6 for propylene/ethylene glycol <br /> analysis, based on the OVA measurements and field observations <br /> 6) Select samples from beneath Tanks 7 and 8 and the background samples for <br /> chromium, hexavalent chromium, copper, sodium, calcium, sulfate and chloride <br /> analyses based on field observations <br /> 7) Report the results <br /> The site background and the results of each of these tasks are outlined below <br /> Recommendations for additional investigation are presented in a separate letter <br /> 12 BACKGROUND <br /> The DWG walnut processing plant is located northeast of the intersection of Charter <br /> Way and South Walnut Street in Stockton, California (Figure 1) According to DWG, the plant <br /> F \ALL\331DWG1331L1FF,9 WP <br /> t'1ge 1 <br />
