The
investigation was performed to evaluate the horizontal extent of impacted groundwater at the site. Activities included: installing one additional monitoring well in the deeper water-bearing
zone and collecting a groundwater sample from the deep well; surveying the wellhead; and video
logging the existing facility well. Groundwater analytical results indicated that a very low
concentration of hexavalent chromium was detected in the new monitoring well which is
screened in the deeper water-bearing zone. The attached report summarizes our activities and
findings in detail and recommendations for the installation of a deep well at the site. Based on
the findings, ATC recommends quarterly sampling of the new well and no installation of
additional deep wells at this time. Results of the video logging indicate that the facility well
appears to be screened in more than one water-bearing zone and is a potential conduit for
migration of groundwater between aquifers. ATC recommends proper destruction of the facility
M well.
F If you should have any questions or comments regarding this report or our recommendations„ please
feel free to call us at your convenience at(209) 579-2221.
Respectfully submitted, j
ATC Associates Inc.
John Sellman
Staff Geologist
Jeanne Hornsey, P.E.
CA Registered Civil Engineer No. 47410 }
cc: Mr. Mike Lescisin, Diamond Walnut Growers
Ms. Margaret Lagorio, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
ENVIRONMENTAL, GEOTECHNICAL AND MATERIALS PROFESSIONALS
