Chevron
May 14, 1999 ; Chevron
Ms. Kristen Rocha
Regional Water Quality Control Board
Chevron Pipe Line Company
Central Valley Region 4000 Executive Parkway,Suite 400
3443 Routier Road, Suite A San Ramon,CA 94583
Sacramento, California 95827-3098 P.O.Bax 6059
San Ramon,CA 94583-0759
Surland Homes Property (Laurelbrook)
Tracy, California
Dear Ms. Rocha:
Chevron Pipe Line Company (CPL) proposes to install one monitoring well at the subject site
(Figure 1) and to perform quarterly groundwater monitoring of site monitoring wells. The
monitoring well is being installed at your request to provide sufficient data to estimate the
direction of groundwater flow in the vicinity of the site.
CPL proposes installing the monitoring well near lots 63 and 64 on Dorset Lane (Figure 2).
The monitoring well will be installed to a depth of approximately 14 feet below ground surface
(bgs) and will be constructed as shown on Figure 3. Upon completion, the well will be
developed and purged until water quality parameters stabilize. After well development and
purging have been completed a quarterly monitoring program will be initiated. Groundwater
samples will be collected from all wells that do not contain separate phase petroleum
hydrocarbons. Samples will be analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes
(BTEX)using EPA Method 8020A,polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) using EPA Method
8270 SIM, gasoline range petroleum hydrocarbons using EPA Method 8015M, and diesel
range petroleum hydrocarbons with and without silica gel cleanup using EPA Method 8015M.
Upon receipt of your approval of the work plan, CPL will coordinate the work with the
developer. If you have any questions or require additional information, please call either
Elizabeth Lu at (925) 842-6855 with Geomatrix Consultants, Inc. or me at(925)842-6877.
Sincerely,
K.L.
