Weber Avenue, Third Floor San Ramon,CA 94583-0759
Stockton, California 95202
Supplemental Groundwater Investigation and Recommendation for Site Closure
Surland Homes Property
Tracy, California
Dear Mr. Infama:
Enclosed please find the subject report for your review. The report summarizes the
results of additional field investigation activities conducted by Geomatrix Consultants,
Inc. (Geomatrix), on behalf of Chevron Pipe Line Company (CPL), during the months of
September and October 1998. The work was performed in accordance with CPL's
August 26, 1998's letter to Public Health Services—San Joaquin County(PHS-EHD)
letter regarding Workplan for Installation of Monitoring Wells, Surland Homes Property
(Laurelbrook), Tracy, California. Based on the analytical results from the July and the
September/October 1998 field investigations,the presence of the petroleum-impacted soil
at the subject site does not pose an unacceptable risk to future residents, and the residual
petroleum is not providing a significant source of dissolved petroleum constituents to
groundwater. The July 1998 investigation was previously reported in Geomatrix's
August 1998 Soil and Groundwater Investigation and Site Status Report, Surland Homes
Property, Tracy, California. The report compares site conditions to the California
Regional Water Quality Control Board's (Central Valley Region) "Criteria for Low Risk
Groundwater Designation". The report recommends that agency closure be granted given
the favorable comparison of site conditions at the Surland Homes Property to the four
criteria.
Considering the assessment findings and conclusions in the report, CPL respectfully
requests that PHS—SJC require no further action at the site. If you have any questions or
require additional information, please call Elizabeth Lu at(925)842-6855.
Sincerely,
K.L.
