Soil and grab water
samples from the bore holes were collected for laboratory analyses. The
analytical results reported in the "Preliminary Investigation & Evaluation Report"
(PIER) dated February 20, 1996 prepared by Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.,
confirmed petroleum hydrocarbon contamination impact to both soil and
groundwater. Analytical results of the grab water sample taken from Borehole #3
were 5,800 parts per billion (ppb) total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline
(TPH-g), 4,000 ppb TPH as diesel (TPH-d), 160 ppb Benzene, 140 ppb
Toluene, 95 ppb Ethylbenzene, and 570 ppb Xylenes. The PIER recommended
the installation of three on-site and one off site monitoring wells to better assess
and monitor the groundwater plume.
In a letter dated March 13, 1996, PHS/EHD commented on the PIER and
recommended relocating the off-site monitoring well to an on-site location,
modifying the design of all the proposed wells for Ipuft o9es of groundwater
monitoring and vapor extraction testing, and conducting a euvveywof wells within
a 2000 feet radius of the site. You were required to submit to PHS/EHD a
proposal for the additional work by April 29, 1996. PHS/EHD has not received
this proposal to date.
A Division of San Joaquin Counry Health Care Services
