The.removed'USTs ' were'replaced With'two.new 1'0;000-gallon UST§: Soil samples were collected'beneath each E I forrrler UST:ift 1989 and.beneath the associated pzping,•Laboratory analysis-of sarixples beneath the USTs indicated the'presence of petroleum hydrocarbons On 24'and'26,January 1'996 six soil probe borings were`advanced'at the-site iii,the area surrounding t46 former,USTs and'dispenser islands. Proberborings Bl,'B2; B4, BS and B6 I :were advanced to a depth of,30 .,feet below surface grade `(bsg)'. :Probe,boring B3 was advanced to a depth of 35 feet'bsg:Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and.r diesel(TPH-g and TPH-d;respectively}and volatile aromatic compounds benzene,toluene, r ethylbenzene and xylenes(BTEX)were detected in soil sarriples collected from.B 1.
