' 06 July 1999
. AGE-NC Project No. 95-0197
"properly screened", and yield samples fully representative of shallow ground water conditions.
3.4. ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL SAMPLES
' A total of twelve soil samples were submitted to a DHS-certified laboratory for analysis of TPH-g,
TPH-d, BTEX, MTBE and fuel oxygenates. Laboratory analysis of twelve soil samples did not
' detect any total petroleum hydrocarbons, volatile aromatics or fuel oxygenated compounds in any
of the analyzed soil samples. The analytical results of selected soil samples are summarized in Table
1. The laboratory reports (Castle Analytical Laboratory Reference No. 2188 and McCarnpbell
Analytical Inc. Lab I.D. No. 09144 through 09155) and chain-of-custody forms are included in
Appendix D.
3.5. ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
' Four ground water monitoring well samples were submitted to a DHS-certified laboratory in April
1999. Utilizing EPA Method 8015M, TPH-g was not detected in ground water samples collected
lie from wells MW-1 through MW-4; TPH-d was detected in a ground water sample collected from
MW-1 at a concentration of 130 micrograms per liter(yg/1).
' Utilizing EPA Method 8020,BTEX compounds were not detected in ground water samples collected
from wells MW-1 through MW-4; however, MTBE was detected in ground water samples collected
from wells MW-2 and MW-3 at concentrations of 2.5 ,ug/1 and 0.71 jig/I, respectively..
Utilizing EPA Method 8260, MTBE was detected in a ground water sample collected from MW-2
' at a concentration of 1.9 µg/l; No other fuel-oxygenate analytes were detected above laboratory
reporting limits.
The analytical results of quarterly ground water samples are summarized in Table 3. The Iaboratory
reports (Castle Analytical Laboratory Reference No. 2188 and McCampbell Analytical Inc. Lab I.D.
No. 09156 through 09159) and chain-of-custody forms are included in Appendix E.
' 4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Based on the results of soil sampling, ground water monitoring and ground water sampling activities
performed in April 1999, AGE concludes:
First encountered ground water is approximately 15 feet bsg; first observed saturated soil
' Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
1
