Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Re: Addendum to the Site Characterization Report
George's Service
1600 Durham Ferry Road, Tracy, California
Dear Ms. Meays:
In response to our telephone conversation of August 28, 1995 I am providing the
following addendum to our August 11, 1995 geologic report for the subsurface
investigation of George's Service, 1600 Durham Ferry Road in Tracy.
Corrected groundwater gradient figure
The surveyed elevation of top of casing was incorrectly listed on the Figure as
99.59' when it should have been 99.39'. The gradient calculation has been
corrected as well as the report text and are attached.
Professional conclusions and recommendation
The recent subsurface investigation was conducted with the intention of cost
effectively obtaining as much geologic, hydrogeologic, and chemical information
as possible while operating under the Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund
Program's (USTCFP) deductible amount. This preliminary investigation was
successful in that the site now has site specific hydrologic monitoring capability,
we have evidence which suggests that the plume has been defined in the
southeast direction, and we now have enough information to consider methods
for cost effectively defining the extent of hydrocarbon impact at this site.
Geological Technics Inc. concludes from the information gathered during this
preliminary subsurface investigation that a release of petroleum hydrocarbons
has occurred and is presently impacting the soil and groundwater environments
of this property. The preliminary data suggest that the plume may be impacting
off-site areas to the north and northwest, potentially impacting adjoining
residential properties and Highway 33.
