(GTI). The QR reported that the ground water sample collected from monitoring
well MW-8, located east of the former underground storage tank (UST) pit, was impacted by
petroleum hydrocarbon fuel components after many quarters of nondetectable contaminant
concentrations. The QR contained a recommendation to install a ground water monitoring well in
the MW-8 area, screened in the second sand interval, to monitor ground water potentially
migrating toward the domestic well on site.
EHD confirmed with Mr. Mandeep Singh of GTI by telephone on 19 August 2004, that the target
interval was the sand lying generally between 42 and 50 feet below surface grade. Mr. Singh
noted that the presence of the contaminants in the MW-8 was confirmed by laboratory analysis of
the third quarter 2004 sample collected from MW-8-
EHD concurs with the need for a well to monitor the second sand zone in the area to better
protect the domestic well, and directs you to submit an addendum work plan for the well's
installation. Please submit the addendum work plan to this office by 04 October 2004. EHD
recommends moving the proposed monitoring well location further toward the south to a location
in line between the former UST area and the domestic well to be more certain of detecting
contaminants migrating toward the domestic well.
Questions or comments may be directed to FJuel Henderson at (209)468-3436.
;NueIC.
