Gen(agicaf'Iecknics Inc. Page 3
Feasibility Study Work Plan—Appendix E
' ProjectNo.425.2
August 17,2000
2.6 Air Sparging System
Air sparging will be conducted using an oil-less air compressor. The horsepower and psi
pressure head will be determined after the pilot test. A system of above ground schedule 40
PVC pipes will connect individual air sparging wells to a manifold. The manifold will allow
' discrete airflow and pressure control to each air-sparging well. The air-sparging manifold
will be easily configured and will be located within the secured treatment compound.
' 2.7 Installation
Upon approval of the project costs, the pilot test should be conducted to evaluate the systems
' effectiveness. Based on the pilot test system, modification can be made prior to
implementation of the remedial system. Upon receiving the AtoC permit the proposed
' mechanical components of the emissions treatment system can be installed.
Once the entire system is installed and functioning, an inspection will be arranged to obtain a
' final Permit to Operate from the SJVUAPCD. An emission air sample will be collected to
demonstrate the reduction efficiency of the treatment system. Influent air sampling will
occur at system startup and may continue monthly thereafter to gauge the remediation
' progress.
2.8 Operation
' After the system is permitted and is operating, an Installation and Effectiveness Report will
be prepared that will describe all installation activities, initial testing, monitoring schedule,
' and anticipated completion date. The proposed monitoring schedule is as follows:
• once a week for the first month with monitoring of the influent and effluent
• twice a month for the next 2 months
' • monthly thereafter until project completion
A log will be maintained on site that will list cumulative operating hours, OVM monitoring
' data. and an estimate of the amount of hvdrocarbons removed Der day.
