Geological hchnics licc.
1172 Kansas Avenue
Modesto,California 95351
(209)522-4119/Fax(209)522-4227
www.etienvxotn
October 12, 2012
Project No.: 425.2
Project Name: George's Service
Ms. Vicki McCartney
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
600 East Main Street
Stockton, CA 95202
RE: Increased Groundwater Monitoring
George's Service, 1600 Durham Ferry Road, Tracy, CA
Hello Vicki:
Phase II of the remedial action plan has been installed and both a soil vapor extraction and air
sparging system are currently operating at the George's Service site (Site). In a letter dated
November 14, 2011, SJCEHD concurred with GTI to increase the groundwater monitoring wells
following the implementation of Phase II remedial system install and start up. Geological
Technics Inc. recommends increasing the groundwater monitoring starting in the 4a' Quarter of
2012, in order to expand the minimal groundwater monitoring data and monitor the performance
of the remedial system. A change order has been submitted to the Fund requesting that more
funds be allocated to increase the groundwater monitoring scope and frequency and further
expand the air sparging system.
To increase the groundwater monitoring scope and frequency and expand the Site's groundwater
monitoring data, GTI recommends the following:
1. Increase groundwater monitoring from annual to quarterly.
2. Increase the number of wells monitored during each event to include the wells outlined in the
November 14, 2011 SJCEHD directive and wells within the influence of the remedial
systems.
3. Annual groundwater monitoring will also include monitoring of two domestic wells: DW-
31448 HWY 33 and DW-1697 Durham Ferry Road.
4. The constituents for analysis will remain TPHg & BTEX. MTBE has been eliminated since
it is not found in concentrations exceeding drinking water standards except in MW-2.
The table below indicates which wells will be sampled and which wells will have depth-to-water
measurements collected during each quarter.
