t • • Page 2 of 2
From: Ezaria Nona [mailto:EzariaNrrlagtienv.com]
Sent: Tuesday, February 14, 2012 8:37 AM
To: Vicki McCartney [EH]
Cc: Jenny Weese; Ray Kablanow
Subject: George's Service (1600 Durham Ferry Road)
Good Morning Vicky,
I would like to give you an update on the status of the Phase I implementation at the George's Service
site. In summary, your November 14, 2011 letter directed implementing the following tasks:
1. Contact the RWQCB to determine the need to submit a permit for Waste Discharge
Requirements
2. Perform annual GWM in wells SW-101 and MW-7 only and include DTW measurements in MW-5
and MW-8.
3. Assemble the Air Sparging equipment
4. Inject air into OS-1, OS-2 and possibly MW-2
5. Operate the air sparge system in bio-treatment mode (15 min in OS-1,followed by 15 min in OS-
2, then off for 30 min)
6. Monitor arsenic and hexavalent chromium in groundwater collected from OW-2, MW-2 and
MW-106 prior to operating the air sparge system, and subsequently during the 2nd and 4th
quarters of 2012
7. Measure DO levels monthly in OW-2, MW-2 and MW-106
8. Monitor the air sparging system monthly
Based on the available funds and costs to do the above work,GTI, on behalf of the Teranishi s, can
perform items 2,3,4,5,7 and 8 between now and June 30, 2012. Task 1 is not required by the RWQCB,
therefore GTI will not monitor for arsenic and hexavalent chromium in groundwater(task 6), per your
November 14,2011 letter. With respect to task number 4, GTI will only inject air into OS-1 and OS-2
during Phase I implementation to avoid the lateral spreading of contaminants as MW-2 is the most
contaminated well at the site. The Air sparge system installation is tentatively scheduled for Monday
February 20 and GTI anticipates system start up shortly after.
Ezaria Nona, B.S.
Geology
Geological Technics Inc.
1172 Kansas Avenue
Modesto, CA 95351
209-522-4119 - phone
209-522-4227- fax
ezarian@gtienv_com
Web Site: gtienv.com
2/29/2012
