e0 <br /> f0 waf Ieckrucs Inc • Page 7 <br /> oil Groundwater Investigation Report <br /> George's Service <br /> Project No 425 2 <br /> November 30, 1998 <br /> 3.4 Waste Disposal <br /> On September 17, 1998, sixteen 55-gallon drums of soil were transported to Forward Landfill <br /> in Stockton Manifest documents are included in Appendix E <br /> On September 17, 1998, nine 55 gallon drums of drilling decon water and well purge water <br /> were transported to Industrial Service Oil Co Inc in Los Angles, CA Manifest documents <br /> are included in Appendix E <br /> 4.0 LI(M2 TATIONS <br /> This report was prepared in accordance with the accepted standards and practices of the field <br /> of environmental geology, groundwater hydrology and good business practices It should be <br /> recognized that definition and evaluation of environmental conditions is a difficult and <br /> inexact science Judgments leading to conclusions and recommendations are generally made <br /> with an incomplete knowledge of the site-specific conditions present <br /> The tasks proposed and completed during this project were reviewed and approved by the <br /> local regulatory agency for compliance with the law No warranty, expressed or implied, is <br /> made <br /> 5.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> Based on our interpretation of the data collected over the course of this subsurface <br /> investigation we have reached several conclusions These conclusions are based on the <br /> premise that the data we considered, although incomplete, are representative of actual site <br /> conditions We acknowledge that there may be undiscovered conditions, which would upon <br /> their consideration, change our interpretation and thus our conclusions <br /> Our recommendations are based on our knowledge of site conditions and the state and <br /> limitations of subsurface investigative technology <br /> 5.1 Conclusions <br /> Geological Technics Inc , taking into consideration the data obtained during previous site <br /> investigation work and the June 29 through July 1, 1998 soil and groundwater investigations, <br /> makes the following conclusions <br /> Subsurface Investigation <br /> The following conclusions are made based on our professional interpretation of the field <br /> observations made during the completion of the soil borings, well installation, and soil and <br /> groundwater sample test data <br /> 1 The majority of soil contamination is limited to the upper 10 to 15 feet a relatively close <br /> distance from the former USTs on the north side of the building <br /> 2 Although soil samples obtained from MW-4 and MW-5 were non-detect, field <br /> observations of soil condition (i e , screening by OVM) and groundwater sample test <br /> results suggest that the soil and groundwater have been impacted by petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons in these areas We feel that the most likely source for the contamination <br /> found in MW-4 and MW-5 is the pump island and associated piping <br />
