CGeofogicalTechracs inc Page 5
Groundwater Monitoring Report
Project No 425 2
February 9, 1999
3 0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
IONS
The following conclusions have been drawn regarding the status of the groundwater at this
site and recommendations for future work
Conclusions
1 Petroleum hydrocarbons are present in five of the twelve monitoring wells
2 The shallow water table groundwater plume is laterally defined except to the west
3 Free-floating gasoline was present in MW-2 in February 1998 but was not present during
this monitoring event
4 Petroleum hydrocarbons in the groundwater at the site appear to be on a decreasing trend
in most of the wells
5 It does not appear that groundwater contamination is migrating vertically as MW-102 has
been non-detect for two events and MW-202 is decreasing rapidly The contamination
that has been detected in these wells maybe a result of drilling artifacts
6 Groundwater gradient historically flows in a northern direction at about 0 002 ft/ft
7 Two domestic water wells, located within about 150 feet down gradient from MW-2, and
one domestic well, located approximately 120 feet cross gradient, continue to be non-
1• detect for gasoline compounds
8 With several domestic wells associated with the residence surrounding the property and
the wells for the elementary school located a short distance northeast of this property, this
' groundwater plume appears to continue to pose a significant threat to public health and
the enviromnent
' Recommendations
The following recommendations are made
1 The wells should be sampled for natural attenuation parameters during future monitoring
events so it maybe determined if the plume is stable, expanding, or shrinking
2 This site should be evaluated for the need of contaminant source removal to provide
protection to surrounding water wells and to achieve closure
40 LIMITATIONS
' was prepared in accordance with the accepted standards and practices of the field
This report p p p
' of environmental geology, groundwater hydrology and good business practices It should be
recognized that definition and evaluation of environmental conditions is a difficult and
inexact science Judgments leading to conclusions and recommendations are generally made
with an incomplete knowledge of the site specific conditions present
