GeoCvg:ca(TecFinus Znc Page 4 <br /> Groundwater Monitoring Report <br /> Project No 425 2 <br /> June 13, 1997 <br /> gasoline range petroleum hydrocarbons continue to be detected in wells MW-1, no sample <br /> from MW-2 was submitted The sample from well MW-3 did not contain petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons <br /> The results from the latest round of sampling are comparable with the results from the <br /> September 13, 1996 monitoring However, considerably less floating product was noted in <br /> MW-2 This maybe a result of the hand bailing by Mr Teranishi, a change in the plume or a <br /> combination of the two Additional wells installed on April 29 and 30, 1997 and <br /> groundwater monitoring are sure to bring us a better understanding of the site A site <br /> characterization report discussing all the data generated during the well installation and from <br /> the first groundwater monitoring of the wells will be submitted in June <br /> 3.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDA' IONS <br /> The following conclusions have been drawn regarding the status of the groundwater at this <br /> sight and recommendations for future work <br /> • CoI1C1il3iOnS <br /> 1 Relatively elevated concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons are present in two of the <br /> three monitoring wells <br /> 2 Free floating gasoline continues to be present in MW-2, which is on the edge of the <br /> property down gradient of the former tank location <br /> 3 Groundwater gradient historically flows in a northern direction at about 0 024 ft/ft <br /> 4 Two domestic water wells are located within about 150 feet down gradient from MW-2 <br /> and continue to be non-detect for gasoline compounds <br /> 5 MTBE was tested for but not confirmed Confirmation testing by method 8260 will be <br /> performed next event <br /> 6 With residence all around the property and an elementary school located a short distance <br /> northeast of this property, this groundwater plume appears to pose a significant threat to <br /> public health and the environment <br /> 1 Recommendations <br /> The following recommendations are made <br /> 1 Test the monitoring well water samples for MTBE and confirm its presents by testing by <br /> Imethod 8260 <br /> 2 if free product appears in any of the wells in the future, continue removing that material <br /> by hand bailing methods <br /> i <br /> 1 <br /> I <br />
