1.0 SUMMARY
Del-Tech Geotechnical Support Services(Del-Tech)was contracted in March of 1995 to complete
a preliminary site inspection and evaluation of the property located at 1600 Durham Ferry Road,
Tracy, CA This investigation was initiated due to the request of San Joaquin County Public
Health Services The investigation is centered around the previous U S T 's located on the north
side of the tacility and a U S T on the south side of the facility This repoi t has been generated
to document the activities performed on the site since the tanks were removed on January 20,
1990 and April 05, 1990, respectively The Geological Profiling, Sampling and Reporting
Activities of this project are being completed by Geological Technics Inc.
The property is owned by George and Mei Teranishi They have o elated the facility as it exists
to this day as primarily a vehicle equipment repair facility and prior to the tank removals in
1990, a refueling station There are no known U S T 's located on the property at this time The
project manager for the activities performed was, Mr Donald E Light of Del-Tech Geotechnical
Support
I
All of the tasks during the drilling of the soil bonngs and monitoring well installation were
completed and supervised by Geologist, Mr Tim McDonald of Geological Technics under the
supervision of Registered Geologist, Dr Ray Kablanow Mr McDonald monitored the activities
and perform detailed logging of the soils during the soil boring activities
The site has two locations that are of primary interest at this time One is the previous location
of two gasoline U S T 's on the north side of the facility and one kerosene U S T on the south
side of the facility
To attempt to complete the definition of the lateral extent of the contamination that is present on
the north side of the property, five soil borings and two groundwater monitoring wells were
installed at strategic locations (see site map Figure 2) On the southern side of the facility were
the kerosene U S T was located three soil borings and one monitoring well were installed Based
upon the certified laboratory analytical data, further delineation through soil borings and or
monitoring wells is now required to further assess the extent of the soil and water contamination
plume throughout the site The laboratory analysis completed by Sherwood Laboratory (State
Certified #1400) indicates that there is elevated levels of petroleum hydrocarbons in the soil and
water along the northern and western boundaries of the property and that the Southern area of the
property has low levels of kerosene immediately surrounding the area were the previous kerosene
U S T tank was located The amounts of lead detected in the laboratory analysis are all below
the state action level
A geological report prepared by Geological Technics is included in Appendix 1 The enclosed
site map and analytical data sheets detail the locations of the borings & monitoring wells and
Tables 1, 2 & 3 summarize the laboratory data sheets
I
George Service Pg 1
