' ealteal Tecluucs Inc Page 8 <br /> G og <br /> George's Service <br /> Feasibility Study <br /> Project No 425 2 <br /> April 28,2004 <br /> ' Wellhead Modifications 4,000 <br /> Trenching[Plumbmg of VETS <br /> ' Including horizontal boring across Durham Ferry Road 15,000 <br /> Sample Collection, Maintenance and Monitoring 7,500* <br /> Sample Analyses 3,500* <br /> ' <br /> Permitting 500 <br /> $109,500** <br /> * Annual Estimate <br /> ** Pius the Cost of Water Treatment(Estimates in Sections 3 3 1 and 3 3 2) <br /> ' 3.3 1 Off-Site Water Treatment <br /> Primarily off-site treatment consists of storing the contaminated groundwater in a baker <br /> tank on-site until approximately 5,000-gallons has accumulated American Valley Waste <br /> ' Oil Company will mobilize to the site, once 5,000-gallons has accumulated, pump the water <br /> from the baker tank and transport the water for treatment at Seaport Environmental, located <br /> at 675 Seaport Blvd , Redwood City, CA, 94063 <br /> ' GTI personnel are on-site twice a month and pick-up of the contaminated water can be <br /> scheduled during monthly DPE treatment system monitoring or blower maintenance <br /> periods No additional man-hours will be necessary to oversee water disposal unless <br /> ' unusual volumes are accumulated <br /> At a site with a high water table, DPE systems can produce volumes of 200 gallons per <br /> hour This would translate to 4,800 gallons per day requiring daily water disposal runs For <br /> the purpose of this cost analysis it will be assumed that 4,800-gallons per day will be <br /> generated <br /> ' The following estimates are based on similar work at other sites A three bidding process <br /> will be used to determine actual costs upon approval of a Corrective Action Plan This is <br /> obviously not the solution <br /> ' Estimated Monthly Costs Estimated Annual Costs <br /> Description <br /> Water disposal $115,000 $1,385,000 <br /> It is obvious that hauling the treated water is not an option The other possible solution <br /> would be to dispose the treated water to the surface water canals or to land Both of these <br /> would require the preparation of a report of waste discharge, permit application, and an <br /> ' NPDES or WDR permit through the RWQCB The cost of obtaining these permits can run <br /> up to $40,000 and the monitoring cost would be determined on the permit limitations and <br /> requirements It would be hard to place a value to this cost at this point, but it would <br /> ' definitely be less expensive then hauling the water <br /> 3.3.2 On-Sate Water Treatment <br /> ' On-site treatment consists of treating the contaminated groundwater via carbon units, <br /> storing the treated groundwater in a baker tank on-site until approximately 5,000-gallons <br /> has accumulated and pumping the water from the baker tank through a sprinkler system <br /> onto designated land <br /> GTI personnel will need to monitor the water discharge to insure that the treated water does <br /> not leave the site The additional time required is anticipated to be semi-weekly visits for <br /> 1 <br />
