PHSIEHD considers this a cost effective mechanism to continue
treatment to levels necessary to protect the public health of the household
residents using the on site domestic well.
Please note that prior to the completion of the remedial action, when hydrocarbon
recovery rates using the proposed, system' reaches asymptotic levels, that PHS/EHD
will require confirmation soil borings to verify the effectiveness of the soil vapor
extraction system. Also, at least several quarters of post-remedial groundwater
monitoring and sampling will be required to,vefify the effectiveness of the air
sparging and vapor extraction systems to remediate the groundwater
contamination.
PHS/EHD looks forward to installation and operation of the proposed system by
early Spring 1997.
