LEA Rw.AT fit_
-
- ,
r
VICE
G R O U P,,': I N C . 93 OCT P Ii
Environmental Services
Mr. Craig Mitchell October 1, 1998
San Joaquin Unified Air Pollution Control District '
4230 Kiernan Ave., Suite 130
Modesto, CA 95356
Re: Authority-to-Construct Permit No. N-3868-li 0
Ruiz Grocery, 4491 West Durham Ferry!Road, Tracy, CA
Dear Mr. Mitchell,
This letter transmits results of initial source testing for the soil vapor extraction system installed at
Ruiz Grocery located in Tracy, California(Figu're'-1). This information presented here is intended
to demonstrate initial system testing compliance as required by the Authority-to-Construct Permit
No. N-3868-1-0, which was issued by the Sin Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control
District(SJVUAPCD).
Back rg, ound
Two gasoline USTs and dispensers were removed from the site in 1988 (Figure 2). Seven
monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-7), one recovery well (RW-1), four soil vapor extraction
wells (VW-1 through VW-4), and two air sparge';wells (SW-1 and SW-2) have been installed at
the site. A domestic well (DW), screened in a deeper water bearing zone, has also been installed at
the site. The extent of soil and water contamination.has been delineated.
In early 1998, an air sparge/soil vapor extraction, system was installed at the site to remediate
residual gasoline contaminants in the soil and&'ouridwater. The system is designed to extract soil
gas from wells VW-1 through VW-4, RW-1,-MW-1, and MW-2, and sparge air into.wells SW-1
and SW-2 (Figure 3). These remedial wells, are'connected to the remedial area via subsurface
u -
piping. When the system becomes fully operational, air will be delivered intermittently to the
sparge wells using.an oiless blower. .Soil..gas will be extracted.from.the.-subsurface using .a
9
separate blower and treated by an electric heated'catalytic oxidizer(Selleco model ECAT-250).
520 Third Street,Suite 104 -1- Oakland,California 94607 ► Telephone 510-893-5160 Fax 510=393-5947
