CLEARWATER
G R O U' P, I N C.
Environmental Services
Trace concentrations of xylene isomers (i.e. 1.5 gg/L) were detected in the water sample collected from the
domestic production wells located on-site. However, it should be noted that water from this well is not used as
drinking water, and the xylene concentration detected this quarter is substantially less than the California MCL of
17µg/L. The domestic well will continued to monitored on a quarterly schedule.
Groundwater monitoring data and analytical results are presented in Table 2,and laboratory analytical reports are
attached in Appendix C.
4
3.0 SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION AND AIR SPARGE SYSTEM
The SVEIAS system design includes seven wells plumbed for'.vapor extraction(VW-1 to VW-4,MW-1,MW-2,
and RW-1), and two wells plumbed for air sparging(SW-1 and SW-2)(Figure 2). The remediation system was
constructed in mid 1998 in accordance with Clearwater's Problem Assessment Report, Feasibility Stuily, and
Remedial Action Plan dated February 21, 1996, Revised Remedial Action Plan dated November 12, 1996, and
Constructions Specifications dated March 28, 1997. The system was tested on September 28, 1998 for initial
compliance testing according to the SJVUAPCD ATC permit#N-3868-1-0(Appendix D). Mr. Craig Mitchell,
I the SJVUAPCD representative, was present on-site to witness.verification testing. Results of the verification
testing indicated that the system was operating within compliance of the permit, and the remediation system was
r restated for full operation on October 7, 1998. Results of initial system testing were presented in Clearwater's
letter report dated October 1, 1998.
3.1 Operational Data -- Soil Vapor Extraction and`Treatment
Petroleum hydrocarbon vapors extracted from soil and groundwater are treated by a Solleco ECAT 250 all electric
catalytic oxidizer(catox).
In accordance with the SJVUAPCD PTO permit#N-3868-1-0(Appendix D),the influent and effluent air streams
for the catox unit were analyzed for contaminant concentrations (TPHg and BTEX) on a monthly basis. Catox
operational data and analytical results of influent and effluent samples are presented on Table 3, and the SVE/AS
process flow diagram is shown on Figure 5. Cumulative analytical results of vapor samples collected from the
catox influent and effluent streams are presented on Table 4..The following is a summary of the operational data
y and analytical results of samples from the SVE process stream for this monitoring period:
r -
5
D-107 1Q99 GW&Sys. Mon.Report 3 April 5. 1999
