Sample No. 1 has to be Sample No, 2, and No. 2 has <br /> to be Sample No. 1. The east end of the tank hole at 17' is the ` <br /> contaminated site. <br /> The tank was tkioroughly inspected for leaks. No holes in <br /> ! the tank were found. Three locations on the tank indicated <br /> corrosion. The corroded areas were . each about 1/2" in diameter <br /> and had corroded about 80% through the steel plate. One corroded <br /> p spot was at the west end of the tank, one near the center and one <br /> at the east end. There was no indication of leakage at any of <br /> ' these locations. '.Other than these three small spats, the tank i <br /> appeared to be in excellent condition. <br /> Based on tank hole inspection and tank inspection it is ' <br /> assumed 'that the soils contamination at the east end of the tank f <br /> is due to overfill. The fill and vent were bath at the east end <br /> of the tank. The dispenser was a suction type pump located at 3. <br /> the center of the tank. The tank was manufactured in 1951. <br /> PROPOSAL ; <br /> This tank site is in the area of an ongoing investigation <br /> from a prior spill. The existing open tank hole is in the <br /> traveled way of Teichert's yard and presents some danger in its Y. <br /> open condition. <br /> ! The proposal is to move in excavating equipment large enough <br /> to evacuate the contaminated soil or to a depth of 30'+. <br /> -,$ TTExcavated-soil_will-be-stockpiled--:on-site- for,--aeration-at-a--la ter <br /> date.
