LIM
Monitoring of Drainage Flows
Monitoring of the storm drain for TPH, BTX and E as proposed
would consist of:
1. Limit the discharge of the stripping tower to obtain a
dilution rate of not less than 1:1 at the intersection
of "D' Street with Fremont Street.
This appears feasible even during the summer due to the
surface discharges from the cannery area to the north
r- of Teichert.
2. Monitor the TPH, BTX & E of the storm drain before the
striipper flow enters the system at Weber Street.
3. Monitor the TPH, BTX & E at Fremont Street before it
enters the 48' line in Fremont Street.
4. Monitor Fremont Street upstream of the 'D' Street
discharge to Fremont.
The proposed limits of discharge from the stripping tower to
the 48' storm drain in Fremont Street are:
TPH 5 PPM above background level
Benzene Non-detNctable above background level
.- Toluene Non-detectable above background level
Xylene Non-detectable above background level
Non-detectable above background level
The objective of the storm drain monitoring by using
dilution is to obtain a non-detectable increase in TPH, BTX & E
above background levels in Fremont Street.
t The discharge water will be tested for TPH, B, T, X, & E on
a weekly- basis for the first six weeks, and monthly thereafter.
The proposed levels of treatment for discharge `are those
established by the Department of Health Services for drinking
water standards for an aquifer:
a
Level of Treatment Detection Limit
TPH Non-Detectable 10 ppm
Benzene Non-Detectable 0.5 ppb
--- Toluene Non-Detectable 100 ppb f `
Xylene Non-Detectable 620 ppb
— -- —- - -Hthylbenzene - -Nan-Det ectable- T--------- 680 ppb
-9-
