The Facility is used
to service,
repair and stare earth—moving equipment. The site is also
icles and trucks+
for servicing
used for fueling passenger vehtrucks, and
n for filling PUMP
trucks with fuel for servicing equipment in the field.
The exact age of the facility is not known at this time, but Teichert
personnel believe the facility and associated underground fuel storage
` tanks are in excP'is of 20 years old.
Y In'. the fall of 1986, Teichert removed two underground gasoline storage
r" tanks and one waste oil tank. Results of chemical testing of soil from
beneath the removed gasoline tanks indicated leakage has occurred. On
r December 9 and 10, 1986, Kleinfelder performed a Limited soil
fdrocarbons in soil adjacent to the
investigation and detected petroleum hY with a photoionization
removed tanks based on soil samples and screening
f-, detector (PID).
i
samples from five boring locations (B-1 through
Ycleinfeider collected soil
B—s) in the area adjacent to and sure removed tank location in
rounding th
soil
1:.
i ?. December of 1986 to assess the nature of the fuel leak. 521ecetdoleum
samples were submitted for chemical analysis and total P
hydrocarbons were detected at relatively significant concentrations in
samples from borings B--1 and B-5.
 + to
64 on 7anuary 16, 1987, Teichert authorized K]einfelder al extentmofdthe lsoil
work at the site to assess the lateral and vertical
b
contamination, to assess whether ground water contamination had occurred
and if possible to assess
as a result of the fuel leak, its extent.
6w 3
e 1
38^87-43 EH
