H
A Tach[6 Sm.Inc
Rb 94 OKA
1 .0 INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND INFORMATION
1.1 Scope of Work
This report presents the results of quarterly groundwater monitoring by BCR &
Associates, Ltd., (BCR) at the A. Teichert & Son, Inc. Mobile Equipment Shop located
in Stockton, California. This work was completed under contract to Ramos
Environmental Engineering, of West Sacramento, California. The following scope of
work was completed according to the BCR standard procedures included in Appendix
A.
Depth to groundwater was measured in five wells, MW-9 through MW-
13.
Four wells, MW-10, MW-11 , MW-12 and MW-13 were purged and
sampled.
Groundwater samples were submitted to Sparger Technology, Inc. a
State-Certified analytical laboratory located in Sacramento, California for
• analysis of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as gasoline and benzene,
toluene, ethyl benzene and xylenes (BTEX).
Groundwater level measurements were evaluated and the results
triangulated to determine hydraulic gradient and direction beneath the
site.
1.2 Previous Work
Previous work at the site completed by other parties since 1986 has removed
gasoline, diesel, and waste oil underground storage tanks. Samples from the UST
excavations indicated elevated concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons. Prior to
soil excavation from the former UST and piping areas, numerous soil borings were
advanced and sampled to evaluate the horizontal and vertical extent of product
release. Monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-13 were constructed and sampled. A
drop in the water table beneath the site has resulted in five remaining wells
intersecting the water table. MW-9 is obstructed and sample collection is infeasible.
Historical results of groundwater sampling from the four wells indicated that
detectable concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons have occurred in wells MW-10
i
1
