decontaminated surge block, mounted on drill line (drill rod-mounted surge blocks
destroy the plastic screw-on caps on the well bottom...) is carefully sounded to the
well bottom. The block is raised and the drill line is marked and secured to prevent
bottoming. The well is surged in five-foot intervals for a minimumof ten minutes
per interval. This procedure continues until the entire wetted well screen has been
surged. After the surging, the well is bailed until the water clears or a minimum of
four casing voiummes are bailed.
II
Well Head Com letion
Monitoring wells are typically finished at grade in traffic-rated well vaults set in
concrete pads. The pads should provide a minimum of six inches of concrete
around the well box, and slope away from it prevent the entry of surface water.
The well riser is secured beneath the well box with a lockable, expansive bung.
This cap shall bear the Monitoring well identification and elevation, if known.
1
i
r
r
